Job Description: Solution Architect - Applications & Integration Position Description The Solution Architect is a technical generalist whose past experience is demonstrates significant depth in one or more technology areas. In this case, CGI seeks an architect whose past experience demonstrates depth in application development, open source software deployment and/or large COTS integration. This Solution architect's primary responsibility is to work with the Chief Solution Architect, delivery teams and Business Development teams to develop solutions and support complex business development initiatives. The solutions will draw upon a combination of elements of Civilian Agency mission areas, Defense Department mission areas, federal Healthcare, regulatory policy, Federal IT policy, Information Security and Administrative Management, marrying these to diverse technology areas spanning from Cloud Computing to COTS System Integration to advanced Data Analytics to Business Process Modeling to custom application modernization and much more. Given the breadth of clients to be supported, this architect must combine strong business acumen with contemporary technical knowledge and superior written and verbal communications skills. This Solution Architect will service US Government account areas, and must demonstrate significant understanding of the mission of one or more government agencies. Your future duties and responsibilities Hands on solution development and validation. General knowledge to work across contemporary enterprise IT and web-scale IT areas including infrastructure, applications, data management and cybersecurity, with a personal depth area in application development, open source software deployment and/or large COTS integration. Works closely with other architects or delivery teams to build component solutions or major solutions of various sizes and complexities. Ability to translate solutions into winning proposals, including the overall value proposition, technical implementation approach and operations and maintenance model and solution-level costing. Solid understanding of Federal Shared Services principles. Ability to understand and work within CGI proprietary architecture development framework.Leading and/or supporting creation of winning technology solutions at attractive price points. Understanding the tradeoffs between features, risks and costsDetermining infrastructure, application, data and business solution costing and options for price reduction according to company and client financial constraintsDeveloping messaging for proposal responses that represent compelling value propositions to customers and differentiate CGI from competitors. Understanding and communicating key differentiators in an architectural solution for customer and compared to anticipated competitor solutions, and translating how technical architecture components create an overall business solution and value to the customerAssisting the development and evolution of future state of IT offerings/capabilities to meet changing market demands, and the skills and temperament to consistently infuse innovative tools and approaches into offeringsFacilitating the standardization and reuse of managed service (Cloud) offerings via process reengineering and standardization of best practicesCalculating Total Cost of Ownership of technology components and complete platformsUnderstanding interrelationships and impacts of systems and applications upon the enterprise wide technical environmentEnsuring solutions are of high quality, are high performance and are scalableMaintaining a current knowledge of the technology industry and Federal IT marketplace and determining the impact of emerging policy, infrastructure and/or applications software on new and existing solutions. - Maintaining a general working knowledge of networking/internetworking and IT securityDeveloping visual, standards-based EA or solution models that support a business leader's understanding and governance of technology solutions, technology principles and technical roadmapsProviding expertise in infrastructure, data and applications software evaluation, selection and implementationAccountable for developing and managing key internal/external relationships across sphere of influence, including collaborations where no organizational relationship existed previously.
