Job Description: Sr. DevOps Engineer Position Description Sr. DevOps Engineer Purpose: As members of the Operations team, DevOps Engineers work closely with development, test, analysis and project management team members to understand the requirements that drive the design of quality technical solutions. The function of the DevOps team is to champion the collaboration and communication between development, test, and IT operations, to establish a culture where building, testing, and releasing software happens rapidly and frequently with minimal re-work, and to provision an accelerated evolution of the application, which is process improvement driven and utilizes metrics to increase efficiency of the software development lifecycle. DevOps team members follow Agile/Lean development process and are involved in the full lifecycle of an application. They are principally responsible for the design and implementation of the continuous delivery pipeline, including continuous integration, continuous delivery and automated environment provisioning. The DevOps team is also responsible for developing the DevOps toolchain, working with a wide variety of open source technologies and tools. Other responsibilities include working within the project team to gather architecturally significant requirements, prototype architecture, implement and update solutions, provide assistance in building and executing test plans, perform technical peer reviews, manage operations as well as production support. DevOps Engineers must be able to adjust to constant business change, common types of changes include new requirements, evolving goals and strategies, and emerging technologies. DevOps Engineers require the ability to interact, develop, engineer, and communicate collaboratively at the highest technical levels within the ADO and all levels of the integrated project team. Duties: 5 + yearsLead and manage DevOps engineering team membersEffectively collaborate and maintain open communication, reaching across functional borders within the project teamAbility to master a multitude of open source platforms and cloud technologies, including containers (Docker, etc.)Establish and maintain containerization and change management infrastructureStrong background in NIX OS scripting and ability to adopt new scripting languagesPerform platform design and implementation activities to support current and future application development, services-oriented integration and technical and network engineering projectsExperience with environment provisioning and operations managementFamiliarity and comfort with frequent, continuous testingAdvanced knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery/deployment concepts (Jenkins)Proven data management experience and abilityMaintain performance metrics and monitoring for microservices architecture and operations environmentDemonstrate DevOps concepts to customers and IPT membersReview engineering designs to make sure that the designs meet the contractual requirementsAdvocate for customers to ensure that proposals meet requirements from operational, functional, and financial perspectivesProvide customer communications to manage expectations and schedule coordinationTroubleshoot build failures, environment issues and technical blockers with appropriate team membersDefine and maintain Configuration Management (CM) procedures and monitor adherence of CM proceduresAll other duties as assigned or directed Your future duties and responsibilities Required qualifications to be successful in this role At CGI, we're a team of builders.
