LCG is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with a minimum of 5+ years of data center engineering experience supporting Windows 2008R2 and 2012R2 hosted on VMware Hypervisor. Significant experience with the installation, configuration, support, operation, and maintenance of VMware v6.x as well as enterprise class data center system monitoring (eg, BigFix, SolarWinds, etc.). This position is responsible for providing systems engineering support for customers in a federal organization. Experience with installation, configuration, upgrading, and administration of VMware vSphere environment (ESXi, vCenter, Update Manager) Significant experience with Windows 2008R2-2012R2 Server, IIS 7.5-8.5, SQL Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, Patch management, Log management, VMware, and SolarWinds Responsible for driving technical service resolution and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction through pre- and post-engineering technical/functional support to end-users. Coordinate with Software Development team to troubleshoot and assist with IIS hosted .NET application deployment Experience administering enterprise class HP iSCSi SAN storage Coordinates with IT management to formulate highly complex technical solutions. Identifies and implements solutions based on agency initiatives. Informs IT management of concerns/contingencies and actively participates in technical planning sessions. Evaluates products and upgrades for appropriateness and compatibility. Develops and analyzes highly complex system standards, thresholds, and recommendations to maximize system performance. Initiates reviews as appropriate. Conducts capacity planning reviews with management. Assist in the development of strategies to manage the frequency of appropriate support package/patch application. Monitors database maintenance and provides appropriate recommendations, when required. Implements solutions and refines procedures as appropriate. Researches current systems technology and serves as subject matter expert on complex systems processes and procedures. Conducts usability and costing studies. Job Requirements: Bachelor\s degree in systems engineering, computer science, management information systems, or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience Experience working with computer hardware, operating system software and desktop applications with a specific concentration in one or more areas Analytical and creative problem-solving skills for design, creation and testing of systems Quickly and effectively diagnose and resolve data center hardware and software issues Devise effective system monitoring tests using enterprise monitoring tools Integrate moderately complex hardware and software systems Demonstrated knowledge in the areas listed below: Microsoft Windows 2008R2, 2012R2+ Microsoft SQL Server 2008-2014 VMware v6.x IBM BigFix Microsoft Active Directory Microsoft Group Policy Objects Microsoft IIS 7.5+ SolarWinds system monitoring or similar enterprise class monitoring HP enterprise class data center server hardware Additional preferred experience: Cisco LAN, firewall, VPN HPE 3Par SAN Major hardware and software vendor IT certifications (Microsoft, VMware, HP, CompTIA, ITIL, etc.)
