Zurich Credit and Political Risk (ZCPR) seeks an experienced Senior Underwriter/Trade Credit Risk to join out headquarters in Washington, DC. The position will report to the Managing Director of ZCPR. Ideal candidates are highly organized, motivated, and able to work independently to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment. Financial statement analysis skills are required. The ability to read Spanish and/or Portuguese financial statements is a plus. High Level Influencer Externally Focused - The job's core deliverables rely on influencing or negotiating with external contacts on strategic impact matters. Relationships typically involve persuading or countering opposition, often with vendor representatives or senior management level customers. Responsibilities include: Using proprietary rating models and conducting the financial analysis for the underwriting of trade credit risks, and provides qualitative analysis of obligors and their financial conditions Ensuring delivery of high-quality credit data and research to global underwriting team Performing due diligence on emerging market corporations and state-owned enterprises and countries Monitoring top-exposure countries, sectors and companies for emerging issues and contributing to the development of guidance for underwriters Conducting country research and analysis and making recommendations on proprietary country ratings as needed Running intern program and supervising interns and their assignments Updating and validation of the ZCPR credit model Management of information services budgets Organize in-house training/presentations for staff on key underwriting issues Contributing to credit product development Assisting with technical underwriting reviews Interface with senior Zurich risk management Participating in other projects as needed Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND Experience with Microsoft Office Experience with Credit Insurance Experience with Financial statement analysis Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree Knowledge and practice of political risk and trade credit lines of business Ability to effectively assess risk Experience negotiating account terms and conditions Possess knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business PC and related software skills Superior skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win-win negotiating Demonstrates strong presentation skills and a solutions and service orientation Established relationships and networks with specialty trade credit brokers Imagine working for a company that truly cares about their employees, customers, stakeholders, and communities they serve.
