Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    Responsible for the design and development of copper and optical fiber infrastructure.
    Assist with network fiber designs, network capacity planning, monitoring, & reconfigurations.Plan network expansion routes and enhance network footprint.Identify facilities in support of customer colocation and network backbone infrastructure.Perform testing of new products related to fiber optic cable, demarcation, & passive systems in a lab environment. Document findings and create methods and procedures for implementation.Develop methodologies for projecting network and fiber backbone capacity needs to ensure network readiness to meet business needs.Monitor and maintain backbone fiber capacity.Assist in providing cost analysis and technical solutions for non-standard or complex customer orders.Work with local facilities leadership with regard to network project planning and design solutions for large customer network builds.Perform and document processes and procedures that will support network operations deployment.Work with other team members and groups to develop scalable network designs, solutions and policy recommendations.Support records group to enable best use of network tools related to capacity management.Must possess the ability to perform the technical responsibilities of a Cable Installer and function as a lead member of a technical team. The systems engineer will coordinate small groups of installers in the performance of daily workload including adherence to Company safety and quality standards.Will install a work area outlet for floor, modular furniture and wall (terminate CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks. Mount face plates and surface mount boxes correctly. Adhere to local site standards).Will build closets (Mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware). Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required. Complete all IDC connections (e.g. terminate 110/66 blocks and patch panels).Performs testing: continuity test horizontal and riser cable; use of volt-ohmmeter; troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cable; use a tone set.Will fully complete all paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers and others as required).Will adhere to and participate in all Company, customer and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.Participates in special projects as required.Will complete other responsibilities as assigned.
Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

Qualifications 8-10 years of directly related experience in network analysis and design.

 

Requirements:

    Must have a deep understanding of both outside & inside plant cabling products and distribution methods.Must be experienced with fiber optic splicing and testing procedures.Strong planning, network mapping, and organizational skillsManage, organize and prioritize multiple projects. The role will perform in a team-based environment, but must be self-motivated, focused on attention to detail, and able to self-manage a projectExcellent verbal/written communication skills.Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional and help create, develop and implement project process improvement(s).Must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners.Must be able to act as the Company liaison for interface with customer representative(s).Must possess proven problem solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s).Must be able to work at heights, off of a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 75 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.Must be able to work while walking & sitting/kneeling & crouchingMust be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.Ability to carry and climb a 28' ladderWorking in all weather conditionsAbility to fusion splice and OTDR test is plus.
