Senior COBOL Programmer
Job Description Custom Software Systems, Inc. (CSS) is Seeking a Senior COBOL Programmer capable of utilizing third/fourth-generation or current state-of-the-art IT equipment and languages to develop and prepare diagrammatic plans for solutions of business, management, communications and strategic problems. Must be able to design detailed program flowcharts and diagrams showing mathematical computations and sequence of machine operations necessary to copy and process data and print results. Must be able to verify the accuracy and completeness of programs and systems by prepping sample representative data and perform testing by means of cycle and system processing. The Computer programmer shall execute the following: 1. Financial aid management system customization 2. Develop and test COBOL programs based on design specifications 3. Conduct appropriate unit testing of programs 4. Supports System, Integration, and User Acceptance testing 5. Provide designs and design support on programs to be developed Other production support as required Required Skills: The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related scientific or technical discipline; or at least three years of equivalent experience in related field. Must have at least ten (10) years of programming experience in software development or maintenance. Must have at least five years of IT systems analysis and programming At least ten years of COBOL development experience. The Senior programmer is nice to have: a. Education: A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related scientific or technical discipline. b. General Experience: At least three (3) year of programming experience at an academic institution. c. Specialized Experience: At least five (5) years of experience working in a higher education setting supporting administrative offices such as Admissions, Registrars, Financial Aid, Accounting and or Business Office.
