Works as part of the Residential Intensive Care Program (RIC) in Annandale, VA. Works with individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness, co-occurring disorders (including substance use and intellectual disabilities) and physical illnesses. Must be able to complete complex, comprehensive assessments specific to the needs of the SMI/SUD population. Functions independently on a multidisciplinary team as primary case manager/therapist to provide case management, crisis intervention and targeted support services. Maintains collaborative relationships with clients for all phases of treatment planning and develops detailed client centered treatment, plans as well as conducts individual and group therapy. Ability to observe, process and document clinical information and make clinical interventions. Must be computer literate and familiar with electronic health record to complete documentation. Completes timely documentation that meets state, local and federal performance contract expectations. Ability to access, input and retrieve computer data. Work schedule is flexible between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Position requires some evening availability. Must have excellent writing skills and be comfortable in a residential setting

Employment Standards

Graduation from an accredited college with at least a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, nursing (or, for certain positions providing services to children and adolescents, a bachelor's degree in special education) plus two years of clinical experience or graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in social work, psychology, sociology or counseling plus one year of clinical experience. Clinical experience means providing direct clinical services to individuals with mental illness and includes supervised internships, practicum, and field experience. Additional education may not substitute for clinical experience.

First Aid and CPR certification, within 90 days of appointment and maintained throughout CSB employment, for positions in residential programs. Medication Administration Assistance Certification within 90 days of appointment, for positions in residential programs. Valid driver's license. Annual TB test.

The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, an Office of the Inspector General (OIG) check, a check of the Child Protective Services Registry, and a driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer. Must be able to observe client behavior/appearance and be able to converse with clients and co-workers.

Master's degree in social work, counseling, human services, community counseling or related degree. Licensed or licensed eligible (LPC, LCSW). Clinician with skills in integrating combined therapies for individuals with co-occurring disorders. Experience with substance abuse, counseling, motivational interviewing and stages of change. Knowledge of ICD 10, diagnostic intake procedures, psychotropic medications and their effects and in depth social history development. Bilingual.

Some walking, bending and carrying of items. Ability to quickly respond to a crisis, physically restrain clients, walk stairs, lift light to moderate loads, work directly with clients teaching housekeeping, cooking and shopping skills. Independently travel to various sites, transport and observe clients. Ability to use keyboard driven equipment. All duties perform with or without reasonable accommodations.
