Works as part of the department's Geographic Information System (GIS) team. Provides operational, technical, and administrative support for GIS activities including but not limited to:
  • Performs complex spatial analysis and creates web applications and map products for internal and external clients.
  • Creates, maintains, and conducts quality control of critical public safety-related data sets using GIS software such as the Esri ArcGIS suite of products and extensions.
  • Application and GIS database development and GIS server support
  • Support of agency business and tactical systems including the interaction of those systems with the county's enterprise GIS and computer aided dispatch systems.
  • Conducts special studies related to the location of current apparatus and analyzes response data to determine appropriate reallocation of apparatus to improve service delivery.
  • Collaborates with other County agencies and outside entities in support of the department's mission.
Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to a bachelor's degree in computer science, geography or related field,; plus one year of experience working with and developing systems utilizing GIS platforms such as ESRI's ArcGIS Desktop or Server software suites; or performing GIS modeling (e.g., feature classes), and spatial analysis (e.g., such as proximity analysis, image analysis, routing analysis).

The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.

Ideal candidate will have a strong background in public safety GIS. Four or more years of GIS project experience, including two years with a multi-user geographic information system and using advanced level spatial analysis (e.g., map algebra, image analysis, network analysis). Experience with GIS, planning, emergency management, or public safety organizations, in particular fire and EMS operations. Experience with ArcGIS and its extensions (e.g., Network Analyst, Spatial Analyst, Geostatistical Analyst). Experience with ArcGIS Online, Server, and Portal. Database experience (e.g., Oracle or MS SQL Server, SQL queries). Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well with others in a team environment and to work independently with little supervision.

All duties are primarily sedentary performed in a normal office environment. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
