Job Description Our client, a rapidly growing international food services company, is hiring for a Accounting Supervisor for their Northern Virginia location! Summary: The Accounting Supervisor provides management with financial information by researching and analyzing accounts, and preparing and reviewing financial statements. The supervisor will be relied upon to be a process lead, cross training senior accountants and staff accountants on a particular process and maintaining that process schedule on a monthly basis. Furthermore, the supervisor will be responsible for training new hires in performing monthly store job tasks. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare and/or review month end journal entries - recurring and general. Reconcile and/or review Balance Sheet Accounts on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. Prepare and/or review State & Local Sales & Use tax on a monthly basis. Review and approve weekly Accounts Payable Department batches. Record and/or review ending inventory and calculate COGS. Prepare and/or review schedule for Fixed Assets. Record and/or review monthly depreciation and amortization. Prepare and/or review schedules for prepaid expenses & prepaid insurance. Record and/or review Deferred Rent. Prepare and/or review schedules/reconciliations for annual audit. Prepare and/or Royalty and Advertising expense on a monthly basis. Prepare and/or payroll entry on a biweekly basis. Reconcile and/or review bank statements on a monthly basis for several accounts. Prepare and/or review monthly financial statements. Analyze and reconcile Income Statement accounts on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. Other Duties and Responsibilities: Respond to inquiries from the DM regarding expenses, budgets, etc. Maintain and/or review monthly rent schedule, research and reconcile all rent issues that arise. Accrue and/or review facility expenses on a monthly basis. Review the general ledger periodically during the month for input accuracy. File and/or review annual personal property tax returns and all other necessary taxes. Prepare and/or review annual business license renewal forms. Assists in budget preparation. Work with other staff accountants and departments to ensure individual and departmental deadlines are met. Assists the Accounting Manager with staff accountants performance reviews. Performs other duties as assigned. Education/Experience: Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Related. Prefer CPA 5+ years of accounting experience in either a food service or retail environment is required.
