Join Graham Packaging today! Job Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Automation Technician is responsible for the control of manufacturing equipment. This individual will be responsible for delivering support to our manufacturing plants and Business Unit commercial teams working within our Automation Engineering group. These responsibilities are to be carried out in a manner which stresses safety, yields quality product, efficiently uses labor and materials and is consistent with company policies, customer service and plant objectives. In this role it will be expected that the Technician works closely with the production, maintenance departments out at teh plants, 75+% travel is required for this position. The primary job of an Automation Technician may include: Understands, follows and enforces all established safety, health, quality GMP and Company policies, procedures and recognized practices. Provide technical support to project teams, plants and BU's on the following equipment: Blowmolding systems: Graham Wheel, CE, Wilmington, Rotax, VR wheels, ADV and ADVT shuttles and their respective extruders Downstream equipment: Detabbers, Trimmers, Leak Testers, palletizers Modify, implement and support line logic Author and review training materials, One Point Lessons, JSA and technical bulletins Lead and/or participate in training classes Provide project support Participate in project meetings; understand deliverables for team and self Ensure all proper documentation is complete and saved in project folder Complete LINKS request(within 2 days of trip completion) with journal entries (as needed), trip report, service log for each intervention, and update engineering to specifications Send daily updates to project team to include LINKS requestor (NPD), Manager, Global Technology Director, and plant contact. Verify safety systems are in good working order Ensure work are is clean and organized Verify deliverables are met for each intervention Record any engineering changes on drawings and/or journal by updating the master file on corporate server and provide any corrections to plant documents Participate on an equipment improvement team or project Participate in new development initiatives Contribute ideas to the capability and innovation group Work outside normal business hours Travel will be required 75%. Core Proficiencies and Skills Automation Technician is required to interact with other managers, employees, vendors, and customers. Therefore, the following skills and proficiencies are also essential requirements of the position: Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance. Computer usage and typing skills are essential. Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices. Communicates effectively: conveys facts and information clearly both verbally and orally. Collaborates well with others: proactively contributes to group objectives; volunteers to help others. Qualifications Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: Engineering degree or equivalent experience. Prior manufacturing experience within the plastics industry is preferred, but not required. Must be proficient in reading/writing electrical drawings, PLC programing, using hand tools and mechanical work.
