Job Description Position Title: Service Technician Position Purpose: To perform assigned service and warranty tasks in accordance with company, manufacturer and government standards. Major Tasks/ Responsibilities: The items listed below are primary duties and are not listed in order of importance. Other duties may be assigned as necessary. · Troubleshooting and servicing of Commercial/Industrial HVAC systems regardless of manufacturer, including but not limited to: · Boilers (steam and hot water) · Chillers · Cooling systems · Energy management systems · Exhaust systems · Heat pumps · Refrigeration systems · Rooftop and split units (gas and oil fired) · Complete all assigned tasks according to company procedures · Handle assigned tasks according to priority set by Service Coordinator and/or Service Manager · Communicate with the Service Coordinator after each call and at the end of the day · Cooperate with the Service Coordinator and inform them of whereabouts and activities · Track and take responsibility for insurance of call completion and necessary communication to the customer · Submit accurate, complete and legible service report sheets on a daily basis · Share in off hours duty roster · Maintain adequate truck inventory stock to perform efficiently · Supply & maintain tools and test equipment in a service ready condition · Promote service contract sales and equipment sales to the customer in a good judgment manner which will benefit both the customer and the company · Take precautions to ensure job site safety · Display a professional attitude, conduct and appearance · Manage time for efficient travel and completion of field assignments · Able to function with minimal on-site or telephone assistance. · Demonstrate a desire to be trained and updated with changing technologies through enrollment in seminars and schools · Communicate with the customers, vendors and fellow employees in a courteous and diplomatic fashion · Occasionally help in installation department as workloads dictate · Look for opportunities for efficiency Reporting Relationship: · Arrive at the shop or on the job in time to begin work at the assigned time. Normal start time is 7:00 am, but may vary as necessary · Reports directly to the Service Manager · Works closely with Service Coordinator and Director of Operations Essential Functions of Job to Include: · Ability to speak English and communicate on a telephone to customers · Ability to lift and carry 100 lbs of equipment and tools · Ability to work while standing on a 12' stepladder · Ability to set up 32' extension ladder for repair of roof mounted units · Ability to climb an extension ladder carrying 75 lbs worth of tools and parts for repair of roof mounted units · Ability to work in extreme winter and summer temperatures · Reliable attendance at scheduled work hours Entry Qualifications: · High school diploma or equivalent · Trade school degree or equivalent · Minimum three (3) years experience in the field as a service technician · Ability to work without close supervision Company Description Commercial/Industrial Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning, Engineering, Construction, Service, Maintenance
