Job Description Strategix Solutions Group, LLC is seeking a Systems Admin / VMWare Admin to support virtualized servers (VMWare), network systems, and messaging systems. You will be responsible for maintaining and supporting existing server assets and engineering solutions for data center and cloud environments in order to support our clients expanding mission and business needs. The current environment has approximately 500 MS Windows servers and is 95% virtualized. The virtual environment is built upon HP 7000 and HP 3000 blade servers as well as Cisco UCS 5100 series blade servers. Regional offices have standalone MS Windows-based Dell Servers. You will be responsible for maintaining and supporting existing assets and engineering solutions for data center and cloud environments in order to support our clients expanding mission and business needs. You will be responsible for server management and patch management on all servers. You will bring expertise with VMWare and related technology administration with a focus on high availability and scalability of architectures. Support will be required for daily operations, performance tuning and future engineering for VMWare private cloud in an EMC VPLEX stretched cluster environment consisting of approximately 600 VMs and 15 clusters. This is a full-time position and will be based in Washington, DC, within walking distance to a metro station. Job Responsibilities : This position will involve working in a team environment with a group of Systems Administrators involving frequent collaborative efforts with Network engineering and Operations and Maintenance ("O&M") departments to support a variety of customer environments across multiple data centers throughout the commission. The position will also include regular communication and support responsibilities to both the O&M and customers in multiple geographic regions. The successful candidate must have strong experience with configuring and managing a WSUS server, patch management software and installation of firmware and upgrades for all Windows-based operating systems at various locations and enclaves. He/she will have a strong technical acumen with a deep knowledge of the fundamentals of VMware ESX and related technologies. VMWare training is required and certification is highly desirable. In addition, the candidate should have a thorough knowledge of either the Microsoft Windows or LINUX operating environment. The successful candidate must also possess strong communication skills and be able to communicate to both internal and external users as well as customers on a variety of levels. A strong desire to learn and expand on existing knowledge is a requirement. Industry standard certifications are also a plus. Technical responsibilities for the position will include building and administering multiple VMware farms across several data centers. These environments will be highly available and may be either in a customer shared or dedicated arrangement. Additional experience that will benefit the candidate will include, but is not limited to, Cisco IOS, EMC VMAX & VPLEX Series SAN platforms. Required: · VMWare Certification · 3-5+ years Windows systems & domain administration with Windows 2008 or later. · 8 Years Professional Experience · MUST be a US Citizen Duties: · VMWare and related technology administration with a focus on high availability and scalability of architectures. Support daily operations, performance tuning and future engineering for VMWare private cloud in an EMC VPLEX stretched cluster environment consisting of approximately 600 VMs and 15 clusters. · Administration of the multiple Windows 2008/12 domains that includes, but is not limited to, Active Directory, IIS, Exchange 2010 and infrastructure monitoring using Solar Winds. · 3-5 years VMware ESX Enterprise administration, in a fully redundant environment utilizing SAN storage backend. · Experience administering an Active Directory environment, with extensive knowledge of group policy. · Strong understanding of Internet/IP related technologies includes, but not limited to, DNS, SMTP, HTTP/S, IP subnetting. · Experience with Intel based servers & Fiber channel/ iSCSI/SAS storage arrays. Understanding of concepts such as RAID. · Have a working knowledge of networking technologies such as TCP/UDP port requirements, 802.1Q network trunking and routing. · Experience with applications such as PuTTY, HP Onboard Administrator, HP ILO, and Cisco UCS Manager · Strong trouble-shooting ability. Ability to identify and resolve problems in "down" situations. · Administration of multiple LINUX operating systems which includes, but is not limited to, LDAP/PAM Authentication, Apache, Postfix, BIND. · Technical activities including hardware/OS/application implementation, upgrades and support. · Review and recommend server & software for customer applications. · Necessary to perform advanced installation, configuration and troubleshooting within a virtualized environment. · Provide system performance and tuning as well as root cause determination in the event of failures. · Produce and present documentation, training and standard operating procedures for both internal and customer use. · Participate in engineering O&M maintenance one (1) Saturday per month. · Review and provide feedback on upgrade and configuration documentation from Network Services · Provide monthly configuration management reports showing network diagrams, equipment spreadsheets, warranty and licensing information, and configuration information on entire network and all servers in the infrastructure · Maintain government approved configuration baselines for all integration activities, validating configurations against configuration management databases and confirming operational viability before releasing systems for production use · Ensure all new hardware and software components are reviewed and approved by the Office of Data and Technology (ODT) Security Team prior to installation. · Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for review and approval of new hardware and software configurations prior to deployment, assisting with scanning and vulnerability assessments in conjunction with ODT · Provide operational support for the hours required and per government and company guidance for holidays, emergency closures, etc. . . · Utilize the ticket tracking system to document a complete, accurate and detailed account of an incident and outages activities.
