In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team as well as partnering with business leaders and cross-functional team members on a global scale.Responsibilities:Lead a team that is responsible for developing the global frameworks for workplace safety programs and EHS standards, training programs, tools and proceduresLead cross functional teams to design and implement new EHS processes utilizing the APEX process and toolsEnhance Significant Incident and Potentials improvement and lessons learned initiativesContribute to development of strategies to consistently evolve and improve EHS related performance and programs aligned to AES growth, risks and operations Work closely with the EHS leaders in our local businesses to host and lead leadership team sessionsCreate and deliver training content on a variety of topics related to EHS programs, initiatives, awareness and emergency preparednessPartner with the business in leading activities and efforts around safety-related incidents and investigationsIdentify and build action plans and strategies through analytics Oversee and coordinate EHS audit management and execution programs to effectively identify EHS related risks and establish mitigation strategies and actions to support SBUsAbility to effectively lead the implementation of programs on a global basis and escalate issues for resolutionRequirements:10-15 years related experience.A proven operational business leader from an electric distribution business or from a power plantPossesses a passion for safetyHas in-depth understanding of safety programs, understands how to operate with them and knows why they are in placeA change leader that champions change, enlists the supports of others and leads teams in pursuit of change, handles conflict in a constructive way, and thinks with an overall business perspective to make positive changeAbility to effectively communicate and influence at all levels of an organization Respected by a number of leaders and other people throughout AESAbility to build effective relationships; possess strong interpersonal skillsHas an established network within AESAbility to lead a small team and influence and motivate a much broader audienceAbility to review, analyze and draw conclusions from data; effectively use the conclusions to make and communicate key recommendations Ability to manage, lead, and coordinate multiple projects at once, often under tight deadlines, while always meeting the deliverablesHas an attitude that "finishes the work" to a high level of professionalismMust be able to and enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced environmentBachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferredDemonstrates alignment with our Values, cultural foundational elements and our WE ARE AES principlesWe are the energy that improves the lives of over 100 million people through the many benefits that come with electricity.Arlington Virginia (US-VA) United States (US) The AES Corporation is a Fortune 200 global power company.
