Requisition Number Post Date Title Enterprise Risk Manager City Herndon State VA Description The primary role of this position is to assist Northwest Federal Credit Union to live out our vision to be potential through coaching and leadership This position is responsible for ensuring that outstanding service is delivered to both internal and external members A key component of this service to external members is to ensure each employee identifies membersa financial needs and suggests appropriate Credit Union solutions The Enterprise Risk Manager ERM is accountable for supporting the development and implementation of an enterprise wide risk management governance framework and related policies and guidelines Works with all departments and subject matter experts to ensure a consistent and integrated approach is applied to risk governance that aligns to the overall risk management mandate Provides second line of defense support in the design implementation and or execution of the risk management framework DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Must include the following and you may include any additional Deliver outstanding service that delivers on our Service Promises Meet or exceed the service goals for the position Knowledge of the Credit Uniona s products and services Complete BVS classes as assigned Maintain department policy and procedure documentation accordingly Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act BSA a Develop and maintain enterprise governance frameworks standards and practices relating to risk governance and effectively implement them throughout the credit union a Develop and implement processes to assess and or monitor the effectiveness of risk governance frameworks adherenc to standards as appropriate a Act as an internal subject matter expert and develop organization capability around risk governance and decision processes aligned with the credit uniona s operating model and risk strategy a Support the maintenance of risk related mandates and charters and esure their ongoing relevance a Provide administrative and risk governance support for the Risk Committee of the Board and the Enterprise Risk Management Committee and related subcommittees a Represent risk management on corporate or enterprise wide projects or policy initiatives impacting or governing risk governance and control a Work collaboratively with other oversight functions to identify and implement consistent and effective approaches to risk governance and control based activities a Maintain strong and effective working relationships with all areas of risk management a Conduct research on industry leading practices for risk governance matters pertaining to the banking industry including board practices relating to risk governance a Other activities related to the above and assigned from time to time by the VP of Risk Management or other Senior Level leadership a Manage GRC Tool and implement throughout the enterprise SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES a Responsible for the day to day operations of the Risk Management department is self motivated works well under own initiative and makes decisions with minimal supervision while keeping the VP of Risk Management informed a Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with CU policies and procedures and applicable regulations Requirements QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily The requirements listed Risk Management experience including knowledge of risk management governance and controls EDUCATION and or EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or equivalent previous financial and service experience preferred Excellent verbal organizational and problem solving skills needed a Bachelor s Degree with years relevant industry experience or risk management experience and or accreditation required a Big experience preferred a Risk management experience in a financial institution is preferred SKILLS PC skills include ability to use Microsoft Office products such as Excel and Word as well is Internet Explorer a Project Management experience with strong reporting and presentation skills a Strong research analysis and judgement skills along with process design and analysis skills a Conceptual and practical thinking and implementation skills a Strong problem solving skills with high comfort in tackling complex problems and breaking these down into manageable pieces High degree of personal initiative LANGUAGE SKILLS Language skills require the ability to interpret all requests using effective interpersonal verbal and written communication skills a Strong communication facilitation and consensus building skills a Ability to read analyze and interpret general business and risk management periodicals professional journals technical manuals and government regulations a Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals a Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers employees and the general public MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Mathematical skills include the ability to add subtract multiply and divide and effectively use a key calculator a Above average knowledge of mathematics required Ability to apply mathematical concepts of probability and statistical inference and algebra to practical situations Ability to calculate discounts fractions percentages ratios and proportions REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form a Ability to use deductive and intuitive reasoning to solve issues that may arise throughout the day a Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions a Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists a Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in written oral diagram or schedule form WORK ENVIRONMENT Ability to function in a financial institution and or branch environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to PC fax copier telephone etc a Works primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety health hazard potential a Will be sitting and using office equipment and computers a May have to manage a number of projects simultaneously and may be interrupted on a frequent basis SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS All positions require US citizenship and a Federal Government Security Clearance Those with an active security clearance are encouraged to apply NWFCU will sponsor the
