Requisition Number 17-0098 Post Date 7/12/2017 Title Commercial Lender City Herndon State VA Description The incumbent will be responsible for the generation, pre-screening and management for new commercial loans. This includes objectives related to loan production, portfolio growth, fee income, profitability, credit quality, loan delinquencies, member service, and personnel development. The Commercial Lender will work closely with Business Banking team and the various retail channels to drive production. The focus will be originating new loans in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. A book of business is preferred, but not required. The Lender will focus on OOCRE, C&I and SBA Lending. Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure compliance, operational risk controls in accordance with NWFCU and NCUA regulatory standards and policies. The ability to comply with all internal organizational policies and procedures Effectively demonstrate the ability to make timely, prudent and in-depth credit evaluations that meet the minimum credit requirements as established in the loan policy manual Oversee all aspects of the credit process; loan origination, pipeline management, prescreening, cash flow and collateral analysis, credit review, due diligence and loan closing Structures, processes and reviews all loan renewals, extensions, risk rating recommendations, modifications and TDR's Development and implementation of an effective sales calling program targeting industries that fall within the CU risk profile Meet with existing and perspective members to continuously promote the Northwest brand while identifying cross-selling opportunities and potential referrals to other departments Target focus for origination is ideally split between OOCRE, C&I Lending and SBA Work with the Commercial Lending Manager and VP of Commercial to discuss pricing recommendations Meet with the loan committee bi-monthly to discuss deals pending approval, modification or annual renewal Review all Credit Memorandum's to include credit analysis and deal recommendation Requirements Qualifications: Minimum 7 years' experience in Commercial or Business Banking required Ability to maintain effective relationships with internal partners, members, service providers and external Center of Influences (COI's) Strong verbal and written communication skills required Computer skills to include, Microsoft word, PowerPoint, excel and CRM systems Strong understanding of SBA guidelines, policies, procedures and eligibility criteria The ability to generate loans, deposits and fee income with existing and prospective members Knowledge of credit underwriting, cash & accrual accounting procedures, cash flow analytics and loan documentation required Formal credit training required, ie Omega Certification, RMA or equivalent Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree Minimum 7 years' experience in Commercial or Business Banking Excellent verbal, organizational, and problem solving skills required Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, particularly the use of Excel formulas in worksheets Ability to systematically gather, read, retrieve and interpret data from reports; excellent problem solving ability; ability to prioritize, organize time and to work independently; excellent listening skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; exhibit self-confidence; ability to maintain composure, poise and patience when dealing with members and colleagues; professional image and neat appearance Language Skills: Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills required The ability to make decisions quickly and efficiently and ability to convey those decisions effectively Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals Ability to make complex financial calculations and familiarity with financial ratios and the applicability of their use Reasoning Ability: Must possess strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to mediate customer service problems, internal staff conflicts or credit disputes when they arise, or internal staff conflicts when applicable React to changing circumstances quickly and have the ability to document and support their decisions as they arise Work Environment: Must possess strong conflict resolution and interpersonal skills To have the ability to mediate customer service problems, staff conflicts or credit disputes without escalation React quickly to changing circumstances and be able to work in stressful situations under time constraints SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS If selected for an interview and offered a position, your offer will be contingent upon your submitting to and successfully completing a drug test and criminal background check within a reasonable timeframe and prior to employment.
