Temporary Position Pool - IT Business Analyst

The George Mason University Office of Human Resources and Payroll would like to invite applications for a temporary role as an Information Technology Business Analyst to work with the Registrars Office. Responsibilities: * Provide training and essential support for departmental use of the Ellucian Banner Student Information System and Banner suite of applications; * Troubleshoot system issues, analyze business processes, and design functional solutions for system enhancements, as well as test and document system functionality; * Communicate at technically appropriate level with internal and external customers; * Perform detailed analysis of business processes and problems to validate functional business requirements; * Identify user requirements and develop functional specifications for custom processes; * Work with other functional support resources and make solution recommendations to ensure that user requirements are met in a timely and efficient manner; * Design test plans and training documentation for custom processes, as well as other system functionality; * Participate in cross-functional teams to address business process or systems issues during testing and operational activities; * Gather and analyze data to prepare business process and procedural documentation; * Participate in the implementation of approved solutions; and * Contribute to team projects and assignments, and coordinate Registrar IT projects with other technical and nontechnical staff.

Required Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or a related field; extensive and demonstrable work experience may be substituted for a degree; * Experience performing business analyst functions, such as writing functional design specifications, developing test scripts, Banner configuration, implementing solutions, and providing ongoing support as required; * Experience in higher education; * Experience with Banner Student Module or Degree Works applications; * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; * Ability to communicate with technical and nontechnical staff; * Attention to details; * Strong interpersonal, teamwork and communications skills; * Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products; and * Ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements documentation and develop training documents, etc.

Strongly Preferred Qualifications: * Experience working in student/enrollment administration; * Experience working directly with end users in a production support environment; and * Experience with design and delivery of reporting capabilities to end users is highly desired.
