The Ford Agency is actively seeking a labor/employment law professional to work with one of DC's most respected universities. The Assistant Director will interact with all university departments, ensuring employee related matters are investigated, evaluated, and settled with an objective and unbiased approach. Investigation experience is highly preferred. The ideal candidate for this role will have experience in a law firm or other professional services environment with a role focused on labor/employment law and an interest in transitioning to a higher education, university setting. This is a permanent position and is available immediately.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all employee relations inquiries and matters
  • Oversee each step of the investigation and resolution process maintaining full compliancy
  • Fact finding
  • Mediation
  • Resolution
  • Initiate and implement policies and processes to establish new and effective methods of compliance training

Requirements Include:

  • 3+ years of relevant Legal employee relations experience
  • BA/BS degree required, JD preferred
  • Knowledge of Federal/DC employment and labor laws
  • EEO
  • Title IX, VII
  • ADA, FMLA
  • Direct experience investigating and resolving employment related concerns in a professional setting
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
