NOC Command & Control Technical Writer/QA Manager
Job DescriptionThe Senior Technical Writer is responsible for writing technical copies for various operation and maintenance manuals and prepares related technical documentation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Researches and compiles technical data for use in various operation and maintenance manuals, training materials, installation guides, and other technical documentation.Obtains data from review of documentation, drawings, schematics, and reports, interviews with technical staff, and the study of published material.Prepares written text and coordinates layout and organization of materials according to prepared outlines and specifications.Work with technical staff to make products easier to use.Standardize content across platforms and mediaGather usability feedback from stakeholders.Proofreads material prepared by other technical writers.May provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced technical writers.Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.Participates in special projects as required.Meet very aggressive network availability, MTTR, and ticket handling objectives while providing hands-on leadership during network events.Develop, refine, and document operation's policies, processes, procedures, and associated systems requirements and drive their implementation and use.Develop and report on metrics on performance, including but not limited to MTTR, # of escalations, and tickets.Plan projects, training, objectives, timelines, deliverables, and milestonesTo meet/exceed and maintain service levels as assigned by management.To meet/exceed expected reliability standards.Willing to take ownership and take on other duties as assigned.Some supervisory responsibilities
- 5-8 years of related experience preparing technical documentation.3 plus years’ professional experience in an Enterprise environment involving a geographically distributed network.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices involved in technical research and writing.Knowledge of and ability to uses various word-processing and desktop publishing software applications.Knowledge of the organization’s products and services, customer requirements, purpose and structure of required documentation, and end user’s level of understanding.Effective written communications skills.Must be comfortable working in a high stress, fast paced environment shifting priorities.Excellent communications skills (verbal and written)Self-starter who can find and resolve issues pertaining to all of GDIT's offeringsAbility to write technical documentation and create management reports and metricsAbility to successfully interface with a wide range of personnel within the organizationExcellent written and verbal communication skills.
