Job Type: Full-Time Location: 2100 Clarendon Blvd., Arlington *METRO-accessible*, Virginia       The Child and Family Services Division is seeking a supervisor for a team of five Child Protective Services Human Services Clinicians. This employee is responsible for leading the staff through identified improvements with a focus on protective factors framework as a foundation for assessment and planning. The Division serves a diverse community and continues redesigning services to offer greater client-focused, integrated, and comprehensive services where close collaboration with child welfare team supervisors and coordinators is key to ensuring uniform practice across program areas.  The successful candidate will bring knowledge of child welfare issues and regulations, child development, family dynamics, as well as clinical treatment experience.

Duties include:
  • Providing clinical supervision to social workers;
  • Overseeing the delivery of services to a culturally diverse population;
  • Monitoring and evaluating performance;
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures;
  • Selecting and training new employees; and
  • Planning and monitoring the team's budget.

 Selection Criteria: Minimum: Master's degree in a clinical discipline such as Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or another directly related clinical discipline, which required a clinical practicum prior to graduation involving diagnostic, treatment, and case management services, plus considerable post-Master's degree experience in providing direct clinical social work or clinical mental health/substance abuse services which includes coordinating/administering services, and significant experience providing child welfare services.

*Licensure at the clinical level in Virginia or license eligible within one year of hire.

Substitution: A directly related higher level clinical degree may substitute for the Master's degree requirement and one year of professional clinical social work experience. In the case of this substitution, remaining qualifying work experience must have been gained after the acquisition of the directly related higher level clinical degree.

  • Licensure to practice social work in Virginia;
  • Managing a child protective services program;
  • Assessing emergent needs or crisis situations;
  • Supervisory experience; and/or
  • Bilingual ability in English /Spanish.

Work Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. After hours and weekend emergency on-call consultation to social workers for approximately one week every five weeks is required, in addition to on-going consultation to staff within the unit providing case-specific, after-hours intervention.
