    This senior position, Health System Specialist (Innovation Sourcing Specialist) is assigned to the VA Center for Innovation (VACI) and works closely with Central Office leadership, the VA Center for Innovation team, regional leadership and staff, and VA acquisition centers. The goal of this position is to direct and manage the VA Center for Innovation's innovation sourcing strategy and operations. The incumbent of this position will coordinate with executives and national level leadership to design, administer, and sustain the VACI Innovation Sourcing Portfolio and advocate within the agency for the consistent and creative employment of innovation sourcing tools, mechanisms, and acquisitions. The incumbent of this position will work with executives and national level leadership and will serve as an advocate within the agency for innovation competitions and collaborate with others across VA to ensure prize offerings and design/innovation challenges address appropriate veteran needs. The position is responsible for working across VACO leadership to define challenges and develop strategies to employ innovation tools in support of VA Administrations and ultimately, veterans.

    Major duties include but not limited to:

    - Defining challenges and developing strategies to employ innovation tools in support of VA Administrations, and ultimately, veterans.
    - Responsible for developing the vision, goals, objectives, timeline, and milestones for the VA Innovation Sourcing strategy at the following milestones level; 10 years, 5 years, 2 years, 1 year, quarterly, and weekly; developing the project plan and budget for the VACI Innovation Sourcing strategy.
    - Developing the project plan and budget for the VACI Innovation Sourcing strategy.
    - May serve as a committee chair and direct, coordinate, or oversee work, or provide similar oversight of contractors.
    - Assists in making decisions on work problems presented by workgroups.
    - Serves as the senior VACI Innovation Sourcing official responsible for the evaluation and strategic guidance for VACI Innovation Sourcing efforts using prizes and challenges.
