The Walter Reed Biosystematics Unit (WRBU) Is focused on providing identification services and developing identification and vector risk assessment tools that support vector borne disease mitigation efforts worldwide. Products and services are targeted to support ongoing or potential DoD missions while also fostering the interagency relationship between the WRAIR and the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of Natural History (NMNH). Focus areas include vector taxonomic and phylogenetic research as a building block to development of more accurate identification tools, field vector surveillance data management and support to streamline the assimilation of field collections into the decision making process, and geospatial mapping of collection records, both historically and in real time, to support the development of risk maps and predictive models. GDIT is seeking a website developer to provide dedicated website development and maintenance required to enable both partner and public access to WRBU created tools as well as to support and manage the WRBU vector identification service for DoD partners. Expected result is an integrated product linking the vector catalogs, identification (LucID keys), and distribution (VectorMAP) products on a secure, up to date web platform.
- The contractor, in concert with the SI Office of Computer and Information Operations, shall provide WRBU day-to-day website maintenance and support to include front end management, online identification tools development and management, maintenance of a literature database, and management of online tutorial tools.The contractor shall provide support for the development of online educational tools for vector specimen collection, processing, identification, and data management.
- 5-8 years of related experience in web software development.
- Must be U.S Citizen / must be able to obtain a national Security Clearance.
