Job Description: The Senior Clinical System Analyst is responsible for supporting, planning and implementing applications and technologies for the customer base. Responsibilities include the oversight of intermediate scale projects or components of large scale projects; development of project plans and timelines and coordination of project implementations; design, testing and implementation of application upgrades as well as problem management, change management and service requests; effectively setting and managing customer expectations at the management and staff levels; providing daily and on-call support and makes recommendations for improvements to the on-call process; acts as lead liaison with the customer base, vendors and other areas within Information Technology.

2 yrs experience in a relevant clinical department being supported required & 3 yrs IT experience in support of a relevant clinical department required (5 yrs total), OR 5 yrs IT experience in support of a relevant clinical department required. Previous licensure/ certification in a clinical health care field. Multiple IT proficiencies/certifications preferred, as available/relevant.

Sentara Healthcare is seeking a Senior Clinical Application Analyst for the ongoing design, build, support, and implementation of eCare for the Hospital Outpatient Departments. Individuals with EPIC certifications and/or proficiencies are encouraged to apply.


  • Oversees intermediate size Epic projects or components of a larger Epic project.
  • Utilizes clinical knowledge and expertise to evaluate Epic workflow challenges and patient safety initiatives. Communicates to non-clinical IT staff as needed to ensure clinical challenges are being addressed.
  • Responsible for the Epic design, testing and implementation for the outpatient departments and clinics
  • Effectively analyzes production or operational problems, identifies and resolves immediate production problems. Responsive and accurate in recommended resolution.
  • Participate in various work groups to recommend IT solutions that contribute to the workflow/issue resolution.
  • Utilizes clinical knowledge and expertise to work with physician groups in guiding their design of system functionality and clinical content.


    Minimum of 2 years experience in Information Systems. Minimum of 2 years experience in clinical environment. Experience interacting with physicians on a regular basis EPIC build and implementation experience preferred Bachelor Degree and/or professional certification in a clinical field.
