The George Mason University, Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media (RRCHNM)--within the Department of History and Art History--is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic and organized Office Manager. The Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media is a multidisciplinary organization that develops online teaching resources, digital collections and exhibits, open-source software, and training in digital literacy and skills. Since 1994, it has used digital media and computer technology to democratize history--to incorporate multiple voices, reach diverse audiences, and encourage popular participation in presenting and preserving the past.
Responsibilities: Developing, coordinating and executing office administrative policies and procedures to ensure smooth day-to-day operation of the center. Office Manager duties include: procurement of goods and services, credit card processing, hiring, payroll, finance, accounting, facilities management, event planning, organizing travel and accommodation, supervision of a Federal Work-Study student, and miscellaneous daily office tasks necessary for the efficient administrative running of the center.
Required Qualifications: * Excellent written and oral communications and customer service skills; * Ability to interact with academic and research faculty and handle confidential information professionally; * Ability to work independently, be self-motivated, take initiative, and pay close attention to detail; * Ability to interpret and apply university and college policies and procedures and work with the state procurement system; * Bachelorâ€™s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and * Computer experience including experience with MS Excel.
Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelorâ€™s degree and demonstrated relevant experience; and * Experience in higher education.
