Our business lines include Dash In, Southern MD Oil, SMO Energy and Splash In, which serve our customers across Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. We are a privately held company that values family, collaboration and dedication. We are currently searching for an Accounting Professional to join our Accounting and Finance team. The Accounting Professional plays a critical role in the Accounting and Finance department as they touch every aspect of the business. Therefore, they should have a strong global understanding of the company. As part of the accounting team, they will work closely with the Operations and Executive teams to ensure that all reported data is correct. We are looking for an individual who has applied experience in full cycle accounting. In addition, the ideal candidate should be able to analyze data quickly, be proficient in Excel, and highly detail-oriented. They must have strong written and verbal communication skills and be a self-starting and process oriented individual. At minimum, the candidate will be accountable for: Providing financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data; preparing reportsPreparing asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account informationDocumenting financial transactions by entering account informationRecommending financial actions by analyzing accounting optionsSummarizing current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports as neededSubstantiating financial transactions by auditing documentsMaintaining accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and proceduresGuiding accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questionReconciling financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account informationSecuring financial information by completing data base backupsMaintaining financial security by following internal controlsPreparing payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursementsAnswering accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulationsComplying with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actionsPreparing special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trendsMaintaining customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidentialMaintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies At minimum, the candidate must possess: Associates Degree in Accounting or related field1-3 years of experience in an accounting capacity
