SUMMARY Lead the AICPA's state regulatory and legislative advocacy efforts. Oversee activities which support Association positions on issues impacting the CPA profession and its internal and external stakeholders. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES . Lead the AICPA's state advocacy program, with an emphasis on issues that impact the CPA profession at the state level in both the legislative and regulatory arenas. . Promote uniformity of state licensing laws and the regulation of CPAs at the state level. . Oversee AICPA efforts on the Uniform Accountancy Act Committee. . Oversee Definition of Attest, Mobility and post-Mobility legislative and regulatory efforts. . Build strong collaborative relationships with and be the primary voice and contact for internal and external stakeholders on state legislative and regulatory issues, including state CPA societies, state boards of accountancy, tax, public accounting firms, AICPA leadership and staff, NASBA leadership and staff, and elected state legislative and executive branch officials. . Represent AICPA positions before state boards of accountancy and in other venues. . Oversee state legislative and regulatory research and analysis to support internal and external stakeholders. . Close coordination with and matrix reporting to Congressional Affairs and State Society Relations Teams. . Conduct interviews, make hiring decisions, provide salary recommendations, monitor and assign work, develop employees; develop work plans and conduct performance evaluations. . Perform other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES . Senior Manager - State Regulatory Outreach . Senior Manager - State Legislation KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED . Solid understanding of the accounting profession . Background in or in-depth knowledge of state government and state legislative, regulatory and executive branch processes and procedures . Ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders . Professional demeanor with the ability to display good judgment and diplomacy in dealing with key stakeholders . Ability to communicate effectively and represent the AICPA before stakeholder groups . Ability to think strategically and problem-solve under pressure and within short time periods . Strong writing skills and the ability to create message points on legislative and regulatory issues . Strong leadership skills. . Ability to be a consensus builder and to work collaboratively and independently . Ability to travel domestically EXPERIENCE REQUIRED . Minimum of 12 years related experience . Previous experience in leading and managing a team EDUCATION REQUIRED . Bachelor's degree in business or related field EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION PREFERRED . MBA degree preferred .
