PATIENT ADVOCATE Part time, Swing shift, Norfolk General Hospital
Sentara Healthcare is seeking a part-time Patient Advocate to provide patient advocacy and support at the Heart Hospital in Norfolk, VA. This is a minimum 20 hour a week position during the day and evening shifts, including weekends. Bachelor's Degree required.
Facilitates and promotes continuous quality improvements in the delivery of patient care by maintaining active interfaces between internal and external customers (patients, family, visitors, medical staff, risk management, etc.), maintaining data system of customer issues for use in identifying areas for improvement. Protects the patient's rights; speaking out on the patient's family's behalf when necessary. The Patient Advocate serves as a Sentara direct representative to patients/families that have concerns or questions regarding Sentara services. Staff education to improve patient satisfaction is also expected.
Bachelor's Level Degree
Required: Customer Service - 2 years
Preferred: Mediation - 2 years, Patient Advocacy - 2 years
