Works at the Merrifield Center in Fairfax, as a behavioral health case manager/therapist to provide a broad range of case management services and other direct services to children, adolescents and their families. These services may include: assessing client needs and planning services, linking clients to community supports, service coordination with other agencies, and participating in Comprehensive Services Act functions. Additionally, case management may include monitoring compliance and effectiveness of medication treatment, advocating for a client's changing needs, developing a crisis plan for clients at risk, and helping older adolescent clients plan for transition to more independent functioning. Assumes case management duties as a primary function. Therapy services provided may include individual, family and group modalities. Knowledge and ability to utilize evidenced based therapies is expected in providing both mental health and substance abuse treatment. Performs database recordkeeping pursuant to CSB, state, and federal requirements. Revenue related documentation requirements must be met for billing insurance and Medicaid. Operates within a treatment-team environment. Supervision for licensure will be provided. The schedule is 40 hours per week, 8:30 to 5 p.m., Monday - Friday to include one to two evenings per week until 8 or 9 p.m. Spanish-speaking persons are encouraged to apply. Fairfax County provides a stipend for persons speaking Spanish after passing a test.

Graduation from an accredited college with at least a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, nursing (or, for certain positions providing services to children and adolescents, a bachelor's degree in special education) plus two years of clinical experience or graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in social work, psychology, sociology or counseling plus one year of clinical experience. Clinical experience means providing direct clinical services to individuals with mental illness and includes supervised internships, practicum, and field experience. Additional education may not substitute for clinical experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience providing case management, therapy, or counseling with children, adolescents and families. Masters degree in behavioral sciences, counseling, social work, psychology.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to travel to other locations to attend meetings; ability to use a keyboard driven equipment. All duties perform with or without reasonable accommodations.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and a check of the Child Protective Services Registry to the satisfaction of the employer. TB screening upon hire and annually thereafter. Contingent upon area of assignment, some positions within this class:
  • Must be eligible to provide services that can be reimbursed by Medicaid in accordance with the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services' requirements;
  • Must meet the requirements to be a provider of case management services as set forth by the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services;
  • Require a valid motor vehicle driver's license with fewer than six demerit points (or equivalent in another state) at time of appointment and maintained throughout employment with CSB;
  • Require a Hepatitis C screening upon hire and annually thereafter;
  • Require a National Provider Identifier
  • Must be able to answer telephones, view information from a computer screen and use a keyboard to enter data.
