Operations department, responsible for the successful creation and placement of ads and ad materials in The Washington Post, is a faced-paced, deadline-driven environment where we get it right the first time. In this year alone, we have launched RED, our ad innovation group, Operative, and many other cutting-edge technologies.  As such, we need a top-notch AdOps specialist to ensure the quality of new in-house and third-party rich media advertising products; troubleshoot the implementation of critical new media projects; integrate third party technologies with partners; smooth out complicated products in our ad server and on our web site; and much more. In the process, we'll need you to establish, understand and advocate the standards of our Advertising Operations department, and we'll need you to lead insightful initiatives in several key areas: integrating, testing, change control, process improvement, and quality auditing and measurement.

Responsibilities include:

  • Translate sales strategies, new products and technologies into advertising tech stack
  • Test, implement and provide QA on new in-house and third-party rich media advertising products, and provide critical troubleshooting on major campaign launches 
  • Work with our Business Development team on the technical ad implementation for new media including mobile, video, feed-driven ads and podcasts 
  • Traffic and troubleshoot complicated products in the ad server and on the web site  
  • Manage ad servers for all media types (including display advertising, mobile and video) 
  • Maintain ad tags and commercial code across four web properties through categorizing, modifying, and auditing tags, and working with internal/external production team to add new functionality when necessary 
  • Perform testing and certification of new Rich Media, Verification or other tagging vendors
  • Provide technical training for the Account Management team on new product implementation 
  • Create efficient work flow for the Account Management team through the development of rich media templates, online wiki documentation, training and runtime reports 
  • Maintain all trafficking tools/templates for the Account Management team 

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor's degree in media, marketing or related field 
  • Technical requirements include DoubleClick DFP Premium (or other ad serving platform), video and app trafficking operations 
  • 5+ years of experience in an ad serving environment 
  • Strong communication skills (with the ability to communicate between all levels of management) 
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks/priorities 
  • Work ethic that is organized and detail orientated 
  • Strong critical thinking skills 
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment 
  • Experience managing vendors and projects 
  • Experience analyzing Excel data and systems administration 
  • Familiarity with web development, publishing, multimedia and browser/OS compatibility 
  • Prior experience with DCLK Studio, Operative, Moat, Jira, AdJuster, Sizmek, Flite, Celtra, Atlas and other ad-tech/serving vendors (desired) 
  • Understanding of HTML/DHTML, Javascript, and CSS (desired)
