Enrollment Management Analyst
The George Mason University Office of the Provost invites applications for an Enrollment Management Analyst vacancy reporting to the Director of Enrollment Management. Responsibilities: The Enrollment Management Analyst has primary responsibility for enrollment predictive modeling, executive reporting of admissions and financial aid data, and enrollment research--including admissions and student success. Collect, extract and analyze programmatic data. Identify trends, prepare high-level reports, and communicate findings to support data-driven decision-making. The position works closely with the Directors of Enrollment Management, Office of Student Financial Aid, and the budget and finance team. The position interacts regularly and also works closely with the Provostâ€™s Office, and academic units, as well as vendors providing services related to enrollment. * Serve as a member of the Institutional Research and Assessment team that is responsible for assisting with the reporting and data analytics associated with university enrollment; * Support the activities and priorities of all third-party vendors responsible for assisting with financial aid leveraging and student recruitment predictive modeling; * Assist in preparing presentations of data to support strategic and operational planning and decision-making; and * Prepare U.S. News, Peterson Guide, Princeton Review and other surveys for external reporting.
Modeling: * Create and maintain statistical models of student flow through the university and use those models to simulate the effect of proposed changes to university practice, as well as to make short-term and long-term enrollment projections based on explicit assumptions; * Create and maintain effective yield models which advise admission and financial aid decisions and provide interval estimates of first-year enrollment; and * Model multiyear, scholarship-awarding strategies--subject to budgetary constraints and institutional priorities--that enable the university to allocate grant and scholarship aid.
Research: * Initiate, lead, define, develop and produce original research projects addressing enrollment management questions and issues; * Develop and implement research methodologies including: a. Quantitative: identification and design of appropriate quantitative measures and instruments; survey design, deployment and analysis; benchmarking; and statistical modeling; and b. Quasi-experimental studies to determine program impact and efficacy. * Based on research and data analysis, contribute significantly to discussions regarding access and diversity in the context of admission, financial aid, and retention-related concerns; * Attend and present at both regional and national conferences on various enrollment management related topics; and * Serve on data, research and IT-related campus and system-wide committees.
Responsible for creating and managing business intelligence, data policies, procedures and standards within the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment. Represent the Division of Enrollment Management and the Vice President for Enrollment Management at meetings and other events as requested.
Required Qualifications: * Detailed understanding of how to pull data from a relational database, then analyze and report data and information for strategic decision-making; * Experienced professional with significant expertise and initiative; * Bachelorâ€™s degree in related field required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; * Demonstrated related experience; * Experience using statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS, SAS, STATA, or R); * Experience working with complex files/tables; * Ability to communicate technology concepts effectively with technically proficient and nontechnically proficient individuals; * Excellent organizational and time management skills; * Ability to work collaboratively and effective customer service skills; and * Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications: * Graduate degree; * Knowledge of ERP systems such as Ellucian Banner, PeopleSoft or SAP; * Excellent written and oral communication skills; * Experience with regression analyses; and * Experience with Oracle SQL and Oracle databases.
