$2,140.80 - $3,427.20 Biweekly
$55,660.80 - $89,107.20 Annually
Job Type: Full-Time Location: 1015 N. Quincy St., Arlington *METRO-accessible*, Virginia       Arlington County's Central Library is looking for a Librarian with a passion for programming and exemplary customer service to help shape the future of the Library's public programming and partnerships. This position will also participate in other adult services operational responsibilities and general Library functions.

Specific duties include:
  • Working with a system-wide team to plan and deliver programming;
  • Building partnerships with area organizations and businesses;
  • Working with internal and county partners to create new initiatives and partnerships;
  • Providing reference, information and reader's advisory services and assisting customers in the use of Library resources; and
  • Collecting, collating and organizing statistics for presentations and reports.
The ideal candidate will be creative, community-focused, energetic, possess strong collaboration, leadership, and communication skills and be knowledgeable about current and emerging trends in programming and creating partnerships in public libraries.
 
 Selection Criteria: Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Completion of the requirements for graduation with a Master's Degree in Library Science or Information Science from an ALA accredited college or university.

Experience: Up to three years of experience serving in a Librarian role that included developing, implementing, coordinating and promoting library programs and services. Applicants may be hired up to the senior level which requires 3 years, or may be hired at lower levels with 1 year required at entry level and two years required at the journey level.

Desirable experience:
  • Coordinating volunteers and staff members work;
  • Delivering innovative programing; and
  • Providing customer service, with a strong background in doing outreach to the community.

 Additional Information: Work hours: Full time, 40 hours per week. Schedule includes some evening and weekend work. Actual work schedule is determined by the needs of the work location.
