Position Purpose:This position is a Part Time 24 hours weekend only position, eligible for benefits

General Summary:

Responsible for establishing clinical appropriateness for inpatient admission, placement on observation status, or treatment as outpatient, regardless of payer source. Employs well established objective clinical decision support criteria as guide. Works closely with physicians, nurses, and admission and registration staff. Discusses with and informs physicians of appropriate patient status, based upon medical record documentation available. Serves as resource to all internal customers. Works with high degree of autonomy. Supports Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Health.

Minimum Licensure & Certification Required (if applicable):

1. Current license from Maryland Board of Nursing or Compact State as Registered Nurse (RN).



Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or certification in Case Management; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.

2. At least three (3) years of acute care experience; utilization and quality management, discharge planning, and/or clinical documentation enhancement experience preferred.

3. Knowledge of overall hospital operations, especially in areas of reimbursement and regulatory matters.

4. Highly articulate, with strong written and verbal communication skills.

5. Computer literacy and analytic skills.

6. Able to communicate effectively, demonstrating good audio and visual acuity.

7. Demonstrated ability to work with all age groups of patients (birth to geriatric).

8. Ability to be assertive, without being aggressive.

9. Patient assessment skills.

10. Mastery of Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) criteria for observation status.

11. Preferred bilingual, with English and Spanish proficiency.Job Description Details:
