Scientific Journal Editorial Assistant (Part Time)
The American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA), a well established health professional association serving a membership of more than 12,000, seeks a detail-oriented, well-organized person to serve as the Submissions and Peer Review Coordinator for its bimonthly, peer-reviewed, scientific journal. The Submissions and Peer Review Coordinator works in collaboration with the Managing Editor to manage the submission and peer-review processes of the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association (JAPMA) for the ultimate purpose of producing a high-quality scientific journal.
The Submissions and Peer Review Coordinator will administer the online submission and peer-review system, communicate with the JAPMA editor, and correspond with and help authors and reviewers use the online submission and peer review system.
The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in scholarly or medical publishing and proofreading. A Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, or liberal arts is expected. In addition to the above, the candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong ability to work with others in a team environment and independently as necessary, and be skillful in addressing and prioritizing multiple tasks simultaneously while consistently satisfying deadlines.
This is a part-time position, approximately 21 hours per week. A flexible work schedule can be arranged.
