Program Director, Student Affairs
University of Maryland College Park – The Program Director of Student Affairs for Materials Science & Engineering will provide academic advising for all incoming students; developing 4-year plans of study, administration of the entire Nano minor program, and supervisory duties.
The Program Director will provide (in collaboration with the Chair and the Department’s Academic Program Directors), strategic direction and develop long range plans for the academic programs and devise initiatives to increase visibility and expansion. The incumbent acts as the liaison between the students and the graduate school to ensure graduation requirements are met and students are properly cleared for graduation. This position will continue to provide complete oversight of all graduate and undergraduate student issues, including outreach, admissions, advising, retention, and graduation.
The incumbent deals with all graduate and undergraduate student issues, including outreach, admissions, advising, retention, recruitment and graduation. It includes working with the scheduling office, graduate school, student affairs office of the College of Engineering, fellowship office and IES. Academic accreditation content and files are collected and maintained by this position. The incumbent acts as the liaison between the students and the graduate school to ensure graduation requirements are met and students are properly cleared for graduation. The incumbent will be teaching a required course for freshman and transfer students (ENMA 180).
QUALIFICATIONS: Successful applicants shall have a Bachelor’s degree or master’s preferred; At least seven years of work experience in a student service oriented environment, preferably in a higher education.
Knowledge of University environment and student admissions process is highly recommended. At least seven years of administrative experience working with diverse student populations is required. Software proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
