General Dynamics IT has an opening for a Shift Lead Systems Manager with strong communication and technical skills that will support the Department of Commerce 2020 Decennial Census Systems of Systems hybrid cloud infrastructure and its applications. The Network Operation Center/System Administration team will be responsible for monitoring and responding to incidents, escalations, customer service, operations & maintenance of hybrid cloud resources, DevOps toolsets, and access management systems.

 

Specific roles & responsibilities for the position include but not limited to the following:

    Support provisioning of virtual machines, virtual networks, VDI instances, other related hardware in the cloud or datacenterSupport implementation of servers, middleware, COTS, GOTS, and FOSSProviding support to development, test, and production teams with troubleshooting issuesManage server images (AMI/VMware)Assist in capacity planning and solution scaling solutionsProvide troubleshooting support for desktops, laptops and other related hardware Provide troubleshooting support for Citrix VDI infrastructure and virtual desktopsProvide troubleshooting support for MFP’s and printers (including device management & spooling)Supporting local on-site patch panels, UPS, appliances, servers, switches and routersManage, track, report and assign tickets dailyCreate SOP’s and other documentation for use within the operations teamProvide daily infrastructure analysis reportsCoordinate and manage service desk type environmentCoach, mentor and train staff
 

Additional Duties may include:

    Strong written and communication skills required.Comfortable in a fast pace work environmentExperience scripting in Javascript, Bash and/or PowerShellExperience automating or orchestrating the provisioning of new servicesExperience with Amazon Web Services GovCloud (AWS)Experience with VMware ESXi, vCenter and/or vRealizeExperience with Windows 2012 R2 and/or Red Hat Enterprise LinuxExperience in performing system admin functions to include but not limited to:
      VM compute & storage managementVM disaster & recovery managementCompute, storage and application monitoringPatching & hardening supportAdvanced systems troubleshooting
    Knowledge of token and PIV based authentications.Knowledge of Citrix VDI, Oracle RDBMS and directory services such as Microsoft Active Directory. Knowledge of configuration and auto deployment tools (Ansible, Puppet, etc.)Knowledge of Federal security policies, requirements, and vulnerabilities managementMust be available for on-call support as required
 

Required Skills:

    10 full-time years of experience; Prior consulting, Professional Services and/or Enterprise Experience preferredMust have advanced level knowledge of the concepts, practices and procedures of the field of specialization. Must be familiar with source and artifact control, configuration and knowledge managementExperience using NOC tools such as SolarWinds, AppDynamics, VMware vRealize and/or SplunkAdvanced vendor certifications preferredRelevant knowledge of current and emerging technologies including Software Defined Network (SDN)Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, elected officials, executive leadership, senior management, users, vendors and subcontractor personnelAbility to consistently meet and exceed expectations and incorporate customer service into all aspects of workProficient in developing infrastructure-as-a-code solutions for continuous deploymentExperienced in supporting project teams in all phases of SDLCExperience in large scale migrations of projects, data, and persons to and from a commodity compute systemsExperience supporting hyperconverged and converged infrastructure systemsProficient in supporting recoverability and continuity of business operations Organizational Skills: Can plan and prioritize work, both their own and that of project team. Education 10+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.

 

Master’s Degree preferred.
