Secretary of the University - Office of the President

The Secretary of the University has primary responsibility for supporting the governance of the University.  Reporting to the President, the Secretary of the University has responsibilities that include but are not limited to:

  • Facilitates the work of the Board of Directors, including the planning and preparation of Board meetings, retreats and orientation for new Directors, as well as the management of all Board records.
  • Coordinates the services offered to the committees and subcommittees of the Board by university staff members, and assists the Board Chair and the President with the recruitment of new Board members.
  • Working closely with the Board Chair and the President and other appropriate University offices, seeks to ensure the continuity of the University's volunteer leadership through Board cultivation and development, as well as Board member engagement through effective meeting planning, communication and periodic individual meetings.  
  • Serves as the liaison between the members of the Board and the University Administration, and performs the usual duties of a corporate secretary.


  • Bachelor's required - strong preference for Master's, Ph.D., or professional degree
  • Significant experience in managing strategic relationships as a senior level executive in a university or non-profit organization
