Administer servers and systems for the purpose of monitoring and supporting Information Assurance (IA) policy and guidance using the implementation of IA technologies. Performs or reviews technical security assessments of computing environments to identify points of vulnerability or non-compliance with established IA standards and regulations and recommends mitigation strategies. Assesses and mitigates system security threats/risks throughout the program life cycle. Validate system security requirements definitions and analysis tools. Establishes system security design and verifies security requirements. Assists in the review, certification, and accreditation of IA documentation to ensure that it is compliant with Department of Defense Risk Management Framework (RMF) standards. Assists in the development of procedures to generate and maintain required documentation to include the System Security Authorization Agreement (SSAA) and tracking methods. Assist in the development of security related plans such as emergency response plans, crime prevention programs, and force protection and anti-terrorism programs as they relate to IA. Coordinates with Simulation Lead to implement and maintain IA and system security for the Joint Land Component Constructive Training Capability-Entity Resolution Federation (JLCCTC-ERF) suite. Coordinates with the C4ISR engineer and other system administrators to maintain IA and security compliance for the Tactical Mission Command (TMC) server stack and associated Army Mission Command Systems (MCS). Develop cross-platform capabilities for all MCS to better utilize hardware on hand. Assists in the setup and tear down for the reconfigurable systems which support various MTC training scenarios. Trains team as needed for installing the various systems. Analyze facility shortcomings and recommend corrective actions including air conditioning systems, uninterruptible power supplies, network cabling, power distribution, security requirements, and lighting. Assist in the creation and maintenance of startup checklists and troubleshooting flowcharts. Maintain the electronic technical library. Ensures IT systems meet local and national standards. Install infrastructure to support training in newly designated areas.


    Participates in the upgrading of operating systems and design of systems enhancements.Provides input for documentation on new or existing systems.Develops and conducts tests to ensure systems meet documented user requirements.Identifies, analyzes, and resolves system problems.Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.Determines system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.May provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced systems engineers.Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.Participates in special projects as assigned.

In addition, performs all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of information systems assets and to protect systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction.

Education GDIT Requires: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training or work experience.


Contract Requires: Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Engineering, Science or Mathematics.

Qualifications GDIT Requires: 5-8 years of related experience in data security administration.


Contract Requires: 6 years of related experience.

 Unique/Additional Requirements

This position requires occasional travel away from normal duty station. The incumbent may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends and or holidays. Position involves some periods of physical activity such as long periods of standing and walking during deliveries and configurations for exercises. Regularly lifts bends, reaches and moves items weighing up to 40 pounds or heavier weight with assistance. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance. Must comply with Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.


Selectee is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and earn the required certification for this position as outlined in DoD 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, dated 19 December 2005.


Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Level Clearance.
