Military Operations Research Analyst, Mid

Key Role:

Develop and apply structured and actionable Modeling and Simulation (M&S) methodologies to address Air Force client questions and problem statements. Select appropriate analysis approaches based on specific questions to be answered, problem statements, or objectives, including the selection of appropriate M&S approaches based on system attributes and complexities. Collect and format data to support M&S and other analysis efforts. Maintain responsibility for applying operations research and statistical techniques across a wide range of disciplines, including operations, readiness, maintenance, logistics, human capital, and finance, defining problems, identifying performance measures, and performing gap and root cause analysis in order to identify alternatives and recommendations to improve performance measures, and authoring detailed written documentation and delivering technical briefings to senior Air Force leaders, clearly translating complex mathematical methods to comprehensible terms, along with their applications, results, and return on investment. Leverage analytical and technical expertise, including operations research, mathematics, statistics, business analysis, risk analysis, and cost or benefit analysis.

Basic Qualifications:

-5 years of experience with developing computer simulation models and performing validation and verification of models

-Experience with developing models using System Dynamics simulation approaches

-Knowledge of operations research techniques, including probability and statistical methods

-Secret clearance

-BS degree in Operations Research, Management Science, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with applying other M&S methodologies, including discrete event, optimization, and agent based

-Experience with developing simulation models using Vensim M&S software

-Knowledge of the Air Force environment, preferably Headquarters Air Force, including the organization, staffing, and mission

-Possession of excellent data gathering, analytical, and problem-solving skills

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.
