We have an opportunity for an exceptional leader to become our Deputy Director, Planning and Project Management. The employee directs professional, technical, permanent, temporary and contract support staff for AOC projects, such as the Dome and Cannon Renewal projects. The deputy is responsible for project plans, design development, construction oversight and commissioning or acceptance of completed major projects. Provides guidance and direction to Energy and Design Services, Project Management, Planning and Project Development, the Construction Division and supervises the special program staff.

The incumbent assists in balancing the needs of a wide range of stakeholders, including AOC jurisdiction leadership, Congressional leadership, oversight and appropriation committees, Members of Congress, congressional staff and congressional constituents. Serves as liaison for major projects with the jurisdictions.

Candidates must have proven experience leading, developing, delivering and communicating capital projects for a complex of historic buildings and new construction. Must possess expertise in developing business processes and applying best industry practices to manage risk, enhance performance and ensure stewardship. Must also have demonstrated expertise in capital program budget development, quality control, technical support and resource management. A demonstrated aspirational leader who can drive workforce innovation and empowerment, provide extraordinary service and deliver awe-inspiring facilities is essential. The incumbent serves at the pleasure of the Architect of the Capitol.

The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance. Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in engineering or architecture from an accredited college or university.
