Hughes Network Systems is seeking a Senior Government Sales Director to join our team out of Germantown, MD.  With established contract vehicles and strong partnerships, it is an exciting time in our Government Solutions division at Hughes!

Responsibilities: 
  • Sell – both new and add-on sales
  • Drive sales as a "hunter", to engage with new accounts and strategize on future business
  • Develop and maintain relationships with both internal and external customers
  • Respond to requests for proposals and other documentation
  • Follow-up on qualified leads
  • Manage lead generation through prospecting, trade-shows and other interactions
  • Work closely with marketing on lead generation
  • Manage the sales cycle from end-to-end, including prospect identification and qualification, funnel and prospect management, sales forecasting, proposal generation and contract closure
  • This position requires travel

    Hughes has established an array of contract vehicles with both federal and state government agencies that will enable the candidate to successfully conduct business in this market place.  Examples include the GSA Networx program, the GSA Schedule 70, GSA CS2 & CS3, the Texas DIR catalogue, and satellite services contracts with a number of states.

    Basic Requirements:
  • 10+ years of government tailored sales experience
  • 5+ years of knowledge regarding general government procurement processes
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field 
  • Position will require up to 25% travel within a specified territory
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • MS degree in a technical field
  • Sales experience correlating with telecommunications and broadband products for the government
  • Experience consistently surpassing sales quotas at the Enterprise level with a record of success. 
  • Expert level knowledge of Federal Government, correlating policies, and procurement processes
  • Expert level knowledge of State Organizations, correlating policies, and procurement processes
  • An independent self-starter, with excellent time management, and an ability to work well in a team.
