The Maintenance Supervisor, Law Center Facilities Management, provides direct supervision and guidance to maintenance staff with safety and environmental compliance a top priority.  S/he ensures work orders are performed properly and preventive maintenance tasks performed are completed in timely manner; coordinates closely with the Facility Management managers to ensure Law Center upkeep and functionality are properly maintained; responds to and corrects daily maintenance deficiencies for the University staff, students, and faculty; and maintains customer satisfaction in keeping the Law Center campus in a good state of repair.  Reporting to the Director of Facilities Management, the Maintenance Supervisor has duties that include but are not limited to:

  • Provides direct management of maintenance staff assigned - planning, organizing and coordinating of all facilities maintenance and preventive maintenance work; and communicates with internal customers regarding status of work orders and other work in progress.
  • Conducts daily inspection of all buildings and generates FMS work orders for staff; and ensures timeliness, and efficiency of staff in completing assigned work.
  • Provides guidance direction and resources to maintenance staff to ensure implementation of FMS system; communicates, motivates, reward, and trains, and evaluates the performances of maintenance staff members whom they supervise.
  • Reviews expenditures of the Maintenance staff with Director to ensure proper use of resources; establishes and maintain s inventory levels of supplies and equipment needed to perform maintenance functions; organizes and maintains storage rooms; and coordinates and purchases necessary tools and supplies for building maintenance.
  • Monitors service contracts as required and inspects services provided for quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Works cooperatively with along with the engineering, special events, project management and housekeeping departments to achieve maximum department results.
  • Monitors University standards of safety for work performance and building safety.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalency certification
  • At least 6 years of experience in maintenance / repair, property or construction management
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Certification as a building engineer or related educational experience and training.
  • Working knowledge of preventive maintenance,  electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, fire alarm , and FMS systems
  • Strong skills in communication, organization, and planning, and a knowledge of computerized building systems
  • Valid driver license and, if hired, must qualify for designation as a University driver
  • Flexibility and strong skills to meet a broad spectrum of tasks

The Maintenance Supervisor is designated as an emergency employee, required to report to work regardless of weather conditions.
