Williams & Connolly LLP is currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer specializing in Messaging, specifically Exchange Server 2010, Symantec Enterprise Vault, and mobile device management solutions.  Under the direction of the Director of Network Engineering, this position has primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support a virtualized environment of Microsoft Exchange 2010 organization in order to meet and maintain appropriate service levels;
  • Manage/Support a Microsoft Exchange 2010 environment;
  • Administer and support Active Directory, DNS, Microsoft Exchange, Symantec Enterprise Vault;
  • Administer and support firm mobile messaging using a variety of BES products;
  • Responsible for planning, testing, tuning, configuration and setup of Microsoft Exchange architecture as well as supporting common email applications (Outlook, Mimecast, Blackberry and Good mobile email);
  • Manage the appropriate setup of applications hosted via Microsoft Exchange or reliant upon Microsoft Exchange. This includes, but is not limited to Blackberry, Good services, Symantec Enterprise Vault;
  • Maintain appropriate documentation on the Microsoft exchange environment;
  • Maintain and improve various PowerShell scripts for maintaining  and managing the infrastructure;
  • Provide a point of escalation and support to the Helpdesk;
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support for the e-mail environment;
  • Participate in weekend maintenance activities, as required;
  • Perform general system administration duties in a Windows Active Directory environment;
  • Monitor Windows servers and troubleshoot problems with both physical and virtual servers running VMware;
  • Produce appropriate documentation for application deployment, configuration, and related processes;
  • Enforce change management and compliance processes;
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing and response.

 

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Have 8 years of progressive systems experience with a Microsoft MCITP 2008 or later specializing in Exchange certification strongly preferred;
  • Have 5 years of demonstrated progressive experience managing an Exchange organization and associated third party mail applications;
  • Have prior working experience with Vsphere in a clustered environment;
  • Familiarity with the Quest Recovery Tool for MS Exchange and Commvault Backup desired;  
  • Display a strong sense of responsibility, dedication, and commitment to providing service at the highest quality level;
  • Possess strong customer service and leadership skills, and demonstrate initiative and a desire to consistently enhance and improve technology solutions;
  • Serve as escalation point for messaging issues and provide timely response to customer escalations;
  •  Conduct research and make recommendations on procurement of technology products and services;
  • Work in conjunction with other team members, help establish and maintain corporate hardware and software standards and keep all related documentation current and clear;
  • Manage and set priorities for the design and maintenance of all messaging and related systems;
  • Be able to lift and carry up to 35 lbs.

Hours are 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.  Willingness to work flexible hours is required.
