The primary role of this position is to assist Northwest Federal Credit Union to live out our vision to be the lifetime financial partner for our member-owners. One of the primary means to achieve this end is to develop a highly effective team of employees and develop each employee to their highest potential through coaching and leadership. This position is responsible for ensuring that outstanding service is delivered to both internal and external members. A key component of this service to external members is to ensure each employee identifies members’ financial needs and suggests appropriate Credit Union solutions. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

The Indirect Processing Team Leader’s primary purpose is to guide and supervise the Indirect Loan Processor’s in a way that provides the membership with accurate, efficient and professional service in a sensitive and understanding style, in writing, via email and Internet, and by telephone. 

The Team Leader serves as the focal point for questions and problems encountered by Indirect Processors and Underwriters. The Team Leader reviews the work of the Indirect Loan Processor’s on a regular basis and is able to perform all duties of their positions. The team Leader will work with underwriters and dealership contacts to resolve outstanding issues. 

  • Deliver outstanding service that meets the Service Excellence Policy and delivers on our Service Promises.
  • Train and supervise Indirect Lending staff. Assign, direct, coordinate and review work performed by staff.
  • Develop each employee to their highest potential by identifying their areas for improvement and appropriately coaching, training or correcting the employees’ performance.
  • The incumbent makes decisions and exceptions in the absence of the Senior Loan Manager/Loan Operations. He/she resolves more complex problems and assists Indirect Loan Processor’s with problem identification and resolution.
  • Provides technical, instructional and operational support to the Indirect Lending staff. Plans and organizes work, assigns tasks and performs all supervisory personnel management functions. 
  • Serves as system expert for Dealertrack, RouteOne, MeridianLink, Docusign and Systems. 
  • Must have a good understanding of Credit Union Departments and knowledge of MSR and Teller applications.
  • The Indirect Lending Team Leader is responsible for Performance Evaluations of their assigned team members. Conducts performance appraisals and documents development plans with each team member within the required timeframe. The Team Leader conducts a weekly Team Meetings to discuss areas of importance with their team members and monthly coaching sessions. 


 SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

The Indirect Processing Team Leader reports to the Senior Loan Manager/Loan Operations. Is responsible for training, coordinating and system operations of Indirect Lending department. Writing, presenting and discussing Performance Evaluations with assigned team members. Prepares work schedule and assignment rotations, approves leave requests, and schedules training and communicates to Sr Loan Manager/Loan Operations on a daily basis any changes to the schedules. Maintains composure and productivity under adverse operating conditions, conflicts, and pressures. Does not allow difficult situations to escalate.

The Team Leader must have excellent telephone, verbal, written and interpersonal skills. 

Must be able to work a flexible schedule between the hours of 8:00am and 6:00pm Monday through Friday. Must be flexible with Saturday availability during peak volume times.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 High School Diploma or equivalent and have a minimum of 3 years previous loan officer or financial institution experience.

SKILLS

Computer Applications: MeridianLink, Symitar, Docusign, Phone Systems Certegy (secure email), e-appraisal, ePort credit reporting, Nada Guides, Auto Warranty and GAP programs and TWIPS. Ability to use the keyboard, typewriter, calculator, fax machine and copier. 

KNOWLEDGE

 Knowledge of policies and procedures, all products and services available through the Credit Union and Northwest Capital Management.
 Full knowledge and understanding of the Staff Handbook, membership eligibility requirements, check acceptance, and the Penley database. Basic knowledge and understanding, as it relates to the branches, of credit union policies and procedures established by Northwest Federal Credit Union (NWFCU) Board of Directors and Management to comply with applicable rules and regulations, including:

Bank Secrecy Act and CIP provisions (including Currency Transaction Reports (Form 104) and suspicious activity reporting);
 USA PATRIOT Act (including Customer Identification Program);
Truth-in-Savings;
 Soldiers Civil Relief Act;
 Privacy regulations; and
 Lending regulations (including ECOA (Regulation B), Truth-in-Lending (Regulation Z) and Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
 BVS classes as assigned by Department Manager.

 LANGUAGE SKILLS

 The Indirect Lending Team Leader must greet all members, coworkers and vendors with a professional greeting. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

 MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

 The Indirect Lending Team Leader must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide using a calculator.

 REASONING ABILITY

 Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with complex problems involving several variables. 

 A Team Leader must be decisive, possess an ability to make sound judgments in dealing with members, and able to answer most questions posed by the members, loan officers and Member Service Representatives or have the ability to direct them to the proper resource.

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

 Indirect Lending Team Leader must be able to sit for long periods of time and is required to hear and speak. They must be able to separate paperwork, stuff envelopes, type on a keyboard and operate a computer mouse using hand/finger coordination.

 The Indirect Lending Team Leader works in a large office area with other Indirect Lending employees. Each Team Leaders’ desk is equipped with a telephone, headset, monitor, PC, and printer. The Team Leader must also know how to operate the copier, fax machine and the Credit Union’s only telephone for the hearing impaired. The noise level in the work environment is moderate
