Human Resouces Generalist
The Human Resources Generalist provides an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment and ongoing development of a superior workforce, and supports day-to-day human resources operations for the Sterling, VA location . This individual is responsible for coordinating and implementing services, policies, and programs through the direction of the HR Manager. The position reports to the Human Resources Manager, who is located in Newton, NJ. The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the overall facilitation of Human Resources services, policies, and programs. The major areas administered are: Performance management and improvement systems Organizational development Compliance with applicable laws and regulatory agencies Employee orientation, development, and training Policy development and documentation Employee relations Company-wide committee facilitation Company employee and community communication Employee safety, welfare, wellness and health Employee services and counseling Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to: HR Administration & Team Development Assists in the development and the implementation of an HR strategy that is aligned with the strategic direction and goals of the organization. Facilitates the implementation of Human Resources programs and policies. Monitors an annual budget that includes Human Resources services, employee recognition, company philanthropic giving, and administration. Partners with Human Resources consultants, attorneys, and training specialists; Drives HR best practices by continually staying abreast and educated on new policies, legislation, programs, and practices that will impact the department and the organization. Is the main contact for Temp agencies familiar with company's benefits and is main contact for all employees Training & Development Trains managers and supervisors on the company-wide performance management system that includes performance development plans (PDPs) and employee development programs. Manages an in-house employee training system and perform training needs assessments Assist with the development of training programs that address new employee orientation and on-boarding, management development, production cross-training, the measurement of training impact, and training transfer. Assists managers with the selection and contracting of external training programs and consultants. Assists with the development of and monitors the spending of the corporate training budget. Immigration Manages all immigration matters including initial visa applications (H-1B, J-1, L-1A & L-1B, OPT) visa renewals, and RFEs Partners with outside counsel on immigration cases ensuring successful petitions as well as legal compliance. Employee Relations Partners with management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs and laws. Conducts investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth. Counsels and coaches managers and supervisors with respect to performance and discipline issues. Monitors the implementation of performance improvement processes with non-performing employees. Qualifications Experience: Experience with an ERP system preferred Must have 2-3 years of Human Resources experience Education: Bachelor's degree. Master's Degree a plus Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Ability to develop relationships and interact with individuals at all levels of the organization. The fast-paced, dynamic environment requires flexibility and the ability to adapt to ever-changing priorities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team are key.
