Position Description Summary: This position will be the single point of contact for the customer and Southland s project management team for all on-site activity related to a project or a group of projects. This person will be responsible for all customer interface, project scheduling, managing the project to a budget and scope, procurement and management of subcontractors, and overall project performance. What You ll Do: Assist the preconstruction team with project planning, pricing, proposal writing, and interviewing with the customer prior to project award. Customer facing communication. Ensure clear, concise communication with customer to meet all customer conditions of satisfaction. Oversee, manage and mentor, Job Site General Foremen, and Foremen for all self-perform labor activities. Create construction schedules, perform regular updates, monitor logic relationships, and insert new activities and impacts. Develop prime schedule and communicate with customer. Ensure regular updates are provided to customer and all subcontractors. Scheduling self-perform field labor, shop Fabrication Pull Schedules, subcontractors, site deliveries, equipment selections, and material selections. Coordinate jobsite logistics and maintain relationships with associated trades. Negotiate with authorities having jurisdiction to achieve project turnover milestones. Develop and communicate plan for site access including any government or military sites with specific security requirements. Lead Southland s Injury-Free Safety Program in conjunction with our Division Safety Manager. Assist in subcontractor buyout process. Coordinate subcontractor work scopes, scheduling, and resource-loading in conjunction with Southland s project management team. Foster the development of foreman to grow into future General Foreman and General Foreman to Site Superintendents. Professionally represent Southland s Field Operations as primary interface with Owner and Design Team. What You ll Need to be Successful: Detail-oriented team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, excellent listening skills and have strong communication skills. Be a self-starter that provides positive leadership for all elements of the project. Consistently meet deadlines and budgets. Ability to identify and resolve complex trade related issues. Effective participation in team environment. Must be knowledgeable about lean construction, and working in a IPD work environment. Ability to plan work in a manner which facilitates modular construction and prefabrication. Aptitude with management of the BIM modeling and coordination process. Availability for short term travel to support the Owner, design team, and partners. Desire to travel to out of market sites for extended timeframe for projects on a case-by-case basis (preferred.) A strong work ethic with a proactive attitude 10+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent, within vertical markets that Southland currently operates (or) Project Management experience with strong field leadership background and desire to transition into Superintendent Role Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred. Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite Outlook, Excel, Word, etc. plus Microsoft Project (or other scheduling software). General Contracting experience is a plus. Experience working in the data center market preferred. Experience working on secure government sites preferred. Physical Capabilities: Ability to read and interpret technical documentation including drawings, submittals, etc. Ability to work at a computer terminal with mouse and keyboard for several hours per day. Ability to visit job construction areas and climb stairs, maneuver in and around pipe work and air ducts and work safely in close proximity to construction materials and equipment.
