Accountant, Tax and Compliance - Arlington, Virginia The American Diabetes Association is seeking an exceptional junior to mid-level accountant to join our Financial Services Division at our home office in Arlington, Virginia. This position serves a vital role within our Finance team and reports to the Associate Director, Financial Reporting. This position will serve as accountant for tax and compliance and provide accounting services in support of the Financial Reporting Group of our Financial Services Division and supports the Association's financial reporting processes through data analysis, account reconciliation and internal and external reporting functions. The Tax and Compliance Accountant provides support to nationwide divisions by responding to specific inquiries and analyzing financial trends. This position is also responsible for preparing schedules required for annual financial audit, IRS Form 990 filing, and other required external reports. This role also provides assistance in the national budget process using through analysis and response to inquiries. Responsibilities Preparing 990s for IRS filing Managing ongoing charitable contributions and filings for all states Provide budgeting and forecasting support to at least one Association Division Serve as a legal and government liaison for audit and financial reporting Collecting conflict of interest forms where appropriate Requirements Bachelor's degree (preferably in accounting or finance) At least 1-3 years of experience working in an accounting role or department New accounting majors, graduate students, or interns with significant experience in a public accounting environment will be considered Individuals with knowledge of 990 filing highly desired Experience working with Oracle strongly preferred 1-3 years of prior experience working in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization preferred Knowledge of record-keeping and expense reporting with high levels of accuracy and low errors is key in this position Ability to successfully work with and understand MS Excel, MS Office, charts, and spreadsheets is vital for success in this role Prior experience and comfort working with various forms of software, especially financial applications Ability to work well and produce results in a deadline-driven environment Must be able to communicate effectively and work successfully within a team environment Savvy analytical and word processing skills required To Apply Please send resume to recruiting@diabetes.org with 'Accountant, Tax and Compliance - Arlington' in the subject line.
