Refer Save Apply Job ID: DSB-54867 Description: The Manager in Risk Management participates in the management and support of the risk management program at the direction and under the guidance of the Director of Risk Management.Supports the Director of Risk Management in day to day patient safety/risk management activities and in claims/litigation management.Advises the Director of Risk Management of staff educational needs and develops timely, informative risk management education programs;Works closely with fellow risk management team members.Key attributes:Strong written and oral communications skills;Presentation skills,Strong problem solving skills and ability to influence change.Excellent organization and project management skills,Exemplifies excellent customer service toward physicians, patients, families, staff, visitors co-workers and other departments;Shows courtesy, compassion and respect in communication with all customers;Promotes team success and positive teamwork environment;Understands and appreciates patient-family centered model of care delivery.Requires a broad knowledge of healthcare regulations, both state and federal, including Joint Commission accreditation, CMS and DHMH regulations.Familiarity with electronic medical record systems.Collaborates with healthcare teams to rapidly identify risk, employ prevention and risk reduction strategies within a patient-family centered model of care.Facilitates root cause analysis investigations using systems thinking, human factors and patient safety science to promote process improvement and risk reduction strategies and drafts accompanying documents/reports.Investigates and analyzes actual and potential risks in the institution; assess liability and probability of legal action for potential notification of insurance carriers.Gathers and analyzes data to draft reports to the Director for internal purposes and outside regulatory agencies, as required.Assists the Director to improve processes, databases, reports and dashboards related to risk management activities and claims/litigation management. Highest Education Level Preferred Masters degree in Nursing, preferred,JD preferred Required Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience in healthcare risk management, quality, or patient safety. 5 years as clinician in acute healthcare setting.
