Job Description SummaryProvides management and supervision for the IT department within the IT organization. Collaborates with other IT managers, business leaders, technology/business consultants, the various IT functional areas, and outside consultants to support the requirements of the business.Job DescriptionA Manager opportunity leading people and projects focused on leveraging new technology to modernize and transform how Transamerica Technology supports Financial Systems. Collaborates with other strategic partners internal and external to the enterprise.Provides guidance and input to strategic and technical planning for various IT projects. Manages planned budgets and projects within allotted budgets and scheduled timeframesHandles multiple IT efforts simultaneouslyEmployee management duties including: Hiring, retention, performance management, time and task administration, assisting in the facilitation of compensation decisions, budget administration and reporting individual, team, and project resultsEmployee leadership duties including: Setting goals and objectives for individuals and work groups, motivating and mentoring individuals and work groups to meet objectives. Coaching behaviors to achieve desired results, fostering an environment for teamwork and open and honest communication, encouraging individual and work group development.Maintainis close contact with the user to ensure needs and expectations are being met.Escalates issues and appropriate recommendations to team leadership.QualificationsBachelors degree in computer science or business degree or equivalent experience. Minimum of 8 years relevant work experience.A background in SQL and HadoopPreferred QualificationsHands-on development and managerial experience in large-scale, high-volume and complex environments preferred.Exposure to many different types of technologiesLeadership and Behavioral Skills Highly motivatedDetail orientedEffective communicatorAbility to mentor othersTechnology and managerial leadership skillsWorking ConditionsNormal office environment
