Refer Save Apply Job ID: SMT-68832 Description: The Patient Assistance Coordinator works in the practice setting interacting with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare service providers to obtain prior authorizations for all physician ordered testing. The incumbent is able to successfully identify services available and to assist and guide patients with all available programs including those for the payment of medical services. In addition, he/she manages the prescription telephone line and medicine closet inventory.Retrieves messages from the prescription line and prepares orders for physician review and patient pick up.Completes radiology, hospital, and surgical prior authorizations for insurance company approval.Completes oral chemotherapy and medication prior authorization and coordination.Provides financial assistance and support with appropriate resources.Meets with, and registers if necessary, new patients with organizations providing financial assistance.Keeps inventory of all medication samples, provides appropriate medicine to the provider upon request, and is responsible for closet inventory maintenance.Performs other projects and duties as assigned.If serving as a bilingual/multilingual interpreter, certification in Medical Interpretation is required to perform the duties of a qualified interpreter.Education Requirement: High School DiplomaRequired: Efficient computer skills required. Must have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and the ability to interact with all levels of personnel. One year experience in a medical office setting, preferably working with insurance companies. Must be able to sit, stand, life, bend and move intermittently during work hours. Must be able to speak, hear, read and write the English language in an understandable manner. Must have the mental capacity to work in an organized, independent manner, and be able to make good judgmental decisions. Must demonstrate a professional and courteous disposition and an ability to communicate well.Must have a neat, clean and friendly appearance.
