The primary purpose of this job is to be responsible for direct data analytics required for the development of PenFed's fraud strategies on credit/debit cards primarily, as well as ACH/Wire.. This position will place particular emphasis on analytical methods, direct data mining, strategy development and deployment, strategy performance assessment, MIS development, while maintaining a balance with member impact. This position will primarily focus on transaction fraud strategies, and work closely with other stakeholders to identify and mitigate ID theft and application fraud. This is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of job duties and the position will perform other duties as assigned.Develop and deploy fraud strategies to detect and prevent fraud losses for PenFed cards and ACH/Wire. Design transaction fraud strategies which effectively minimize cardmember disruptions while balancing financial impact and risk to the credit union.Collaborate with other stakeholders for developing strategies that target application fraud.Develop and maintain MIS that enables tracking of fraud strategy performance, queue performance, deviation MIS (to identify fraud events), exception MIS to review high risk defects, etc.Support large-scale strategic projects that require data analytics towards fraud mitigation. Methods required may be simple analytics utilizing BI tools or require more complex modeling applying data-science expertise.Develop analytics reports that will drive early insights into fraud trends and provide recommendation to management based on findings.Develop sophiscated queries and work with larger team to identify gaps, develop appropriate fraud mitigation strategies, and recommend corrective action to management.Monitor performance of fraud strategies, scoring models and support independent model validation efforts in accordance with the model governance policy.Interpret analytic findings and formulate recommendations to share with key decision makers. Clearly articulate findings/observations and make recommendations as appropriate. Education and ExperienceEquivalent combination of education and experience is considered.Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Engineering or a related field is required Advanced degree in a quantitative or a related field is highly preferredThree years of experience of risk experience in banking/financial industry preferredExperience in fraud mitigation and risk analytics in credit card or related consumer products highly preferredExperience and expertise in a statistical software like SAS, SQL, R, Python is requiredProficiency working with large dataset are requiredStatistical analysis experience, including trend analysis, regression analysis, and model validationKnowledge of statistical concepts, predictive modeling, and analytic tools are requiredAbility to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, with proven skills to effectively manage prioritization while effectively meeting deliverablesStrong interpersonal and communication skills to develop effective working relationships with other stakeholders and clearly articulate methods and recommendations to management Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position will not supervise employees.
