Requisition Number 17-0055 Post Date 6/15/2017 Title Accounting Specialist Department Division - Finance Job Category Full Time Employee Number of Openings 1 FLSA Non-Exempt Tier Tier 2 City Herndon State VA Description Job Summary:The Accounting Specialist assists the Accountants and provides daily back-up for processing in connection with the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions. Duties include recording daily and monthly credit card receipts, filing paid invoices and statements, maintaining customer records, preparing month end schedules and associated general ledger entries, preparing invoices, and maintaining physical inventory and fixed asset records. The Accounting Specialist is also responsible for responding to most internal and external customer inquiries via phone and email regarding sales tax, invoices, payments, and refunds. Additionally, the Accounting Specialist assists the Accounting Manager, Controller, and CFO generate effective management reports by producing ongoing and ad hoc analyses of operating results. Minimum Qualifications:* Associate's degree in Finance, or in a related major; or 1+ years of directly related experience.* Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accounts payable/receivable, bookkeeping and collections.* Experience with Microsoft Office, accounting, and general ledger software.* Strong analytical and problem solving skills.* Excellent oral and written communication skills.* Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively on teams.* Proven customer service skills and demonstrated attention to detail.* Ability to work independently.* Live within a commutable distance of Herndon, VA.Desired Qualifications:* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.* Experience with ACCPAC accounting software.* Experience with Avalara sales tax software.Physical Requirements:* Use of a computer terminal and/or laptop computer for 8 or more hours a day.* Use of a copy machine, fax machine, and telephone.* Frequently required to sit for 7 or more hours per day.* Vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. * Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. #LI-POST #LI-AF1 NSC strives to hire, promote, and retain the best qualified individuals for our employment opportunities.
